divorce legal representation
Legal representation

based on your budget and needs

We provide counsel and legal representation to clients who are considering divorce (dissolution) or establishing a parenting plan and require assistance with mediation, child support, guardian ad litem representation or a collaborative dissolution.

Clients have the following options for working with us:

Full Representation

Full Representation

We handle your case from beginning to end through a traditional litigation process, regardless of the complexity or the level of contention in the case.

This option is most suitable if you believe your case is too complex for you to handle on your own, or if you simply prefer the peace of mind of having a seasoned professional guide you through the process as efficiently and thoughtfully as possible. We file all the appropriate documents and are continually available for advice and assistance in achieving your goals for the case. We represent you in court as needed.

For contested dissolution cases, our fee is $300 per hour and clients pay an initial deposit of $5,000 to $10,000. Any unused portion of the deposit is returned to you at the end of the case. Complexity and disagreements will primarily determine the ultimate cost of your case.

For uncontested dissolution cases, our fee is $300 per hour and clients pay an initial deposit of $2,000 for a divorce without children and $3,000 for a divorce with children. Any unused portion of the deposit is returned to you at the end of the case.

Limited Representation

We offer specific, targeted assistance chosen from a menu of services. For example:

  1. Providing an hour of legal advice before a mediation you go to on your own
  2. Drafting the pleadings necessary to request a court order or a temporary parenting plan that you will file on your own
  3. Running a child support calculation according to the Montana Uniform Child Support Guidelines
  4. Drafting a property settlement agreement or parenting plan that you and the other party have negotiated on your own or with a mediator.

This option is appropriate if you want to handle your divorce yourself as either a cost-saving measure or because you believe your case is simple enough to handle on your own.

Collaborative Dissolution

Collaborative Dissolution

With a Collaborative Dissolution, you commit and agree to achieve an out-of-court resolution that is facilitated through a series of mediations by specially trained professionals, including lawyers, mental health professionals, and financial professionals.

This option is appropriate if you and the other party are motivated to resolve your disputes by agreement or your family situation or dynamic needs the support of a team of professionals who can assist in conflict resolution and problem-solving. All parties work together to determine the solutions that will work best for their family instead of having the Court or lawyers impose resolutions.

My fee for a Collaborative Dissolution is $300 per hour and clients pay an initial deposit of $5,000 to $7,000. Any unused portion of the deposit is returned at the end of the case.
